The Vet Centre, established in the early 1960s, is a vet club registered as Otamatea Vet Club Inc. Running as an incorporated society, they were established by a group of farmers who got together and formed a club.
They paid an annual membership fee and then employed veterinarians. The Otamatea Vet Club started with one vet working out of a house at Maungaturoto and over the ensuing years grew to include the Waipu and Ruawai areas.
